This project involved building an application from scratch for a company. The company, Bumbles Honey Ale, is a brewery specializing in craft beers. They needed an application to enhance customer engagement and streamline their offerings. This application is designed to showcase their products, provide a user-friendly experience, and expand their brand presence.

Sketches

To design the application logo for the ale company, I wanted to incorporate elements from how the ale tastes. Emphasizing the honey part of the name and where that honey comes from (bees).

Typography

I chose a font that appeared soft and sweet. I selected Green Bee because of the smoothness of the letters. I also liked the curviness of the letters because bees hardly ever fly in a straight line, so I wanted to capture that with this font.

Colors

I selected these colors because these are the same shade as ale in a glass. I wanted the logo to have the same rich texture as the ale.

Logo Draft 1

This was my first draft; I was trying to capture the fun side of drinking. I decided to stylize the logo like partying in a club, so I used complex lines inside of the honeycomb to create a kaleidoscope effect. Unfortunately, my creative idea did not fit the brand of the ale company.

Logo Draft 2

In my next draft, I decided to highlight the bees instead of the honeycombs. I even input some whimsy by making a play on words slogan. This draft also did not seem to fit because the text was a hard to read and the logo looks like a floormat. The colors also did not align with the logo.

Logo Draft 3

I really liked the style of the honeycombs in this draft. I felt like the colors were too dark, and the font is hard to read. Everything seemed too crowded and busy, making it difficult to see the bees as well.

Final Logo

I used the honeycombs from the previous draft and changed the color of them so that the font would pop. This also aligned with the style of the brand because the colors match the color of honey and the ale. This also allows the viewer to clearly see the bee. I also finalized the slogan, which works better than the ideas that I had before.
